Maxie has been with us 153 days and counting. Her sister was adopted and once in her new home tested positive for the feline leukemia virus however Maxie tested negative on a snap test and lab test. We waited a month and tested again with an IDEXX laboratory test. Maxie is confirmed for having the virus however the virus has such small amount showing that it has not affected her immune system or her bone marrow. She is a low risk for shedding. The ideal home for Maxie would be a single cat home. However with her shedding risk, she could possibly go into a home where the cats had already been vaccinated for this horrible virus and define could be with other FeLV positive cats. Maxie is expected to have a long life, and very few complications. There is always a risk as with any cat that the virus could surface and change plans. We desperately need that magic adopter or at least a foster that has those listed. Please share Max’s story and help us get her out of here. She is isolated and often kenneled alone and her depression is not helping. Maxie is a very loving and social cat that does not deserve to be living in isolation. .

We are a super small, no kill rescue that is operating way above our capacity. Our numbers have increased exponentially since Covid. Unlike most shelters, we remained open and hit record intake numbers after the epidemic hit. We have taken in dozens of very sick felines that had no other option, and have even helped over 60 canines in 2021. 2022 was not any better.  We are trying to compute our end of the year numbers, but intake, vetting expenses, cost of food and litter for our 120 plus cats all just continues to get worse with the cost of living increasing like it has. Our rescue has also provided record number spay/neuters 2023 at well over 1200 surgeries on cats and dogs. Our accounts are drained, but we feel these surgeries are the only way we are going to be able to stay a float. We will never keep up with the rate that cats can breed in our area.

We operate solely on donations, and we are always looking for wonderful families to join our efforts. We have dozens of felines not posted and dozens more on our waiting list. No matter what type of setting you have, if you are looking to save a feline, we can find one for you to help.
