Update from 9/5/20 Ginger is desperately waiting for her forever family. She is a special girl with lots of love to share. She likes to be inside with her humans, but we have far too many kitties in The Cat House for her to be comfortable, so she sadly waits on the porch hoping to see her new family come for her. She really wants someone to come and save her. This middle age gal has lots of love to share. Please consider meeting this darling girl.
First post.... We were asked to help a family that realized how often mom's become pregnant. We were able to get to the home before it became out of control. Ginger was living outside with her two daughters. Our intent was to spay Ginger, however we found she was about to drop kittens again. The family said that she had already had 3 litters there, but that the babies almost always die. So we asked the family if we could keep her. It was not long before Ginger had her babies. With assistance from volunteers, two kitten lived. Ginger then took on an orphan baby to raise. She has been such a great mom!!!! We currently have Ginger and one baby waiting for their forever home at our Cat House. Ginger came back from foster and was spayed and received rabies vaccine 6/2/20. We learned Ginger was 5 years old, which makes us really hate to send her back outdoors at her original home. She did not have a comfortable and safe structure like she deserves. She is a very laid back calm cat at the time which makes sense given her age. We feel she never learned how to be a kitten herself. Ginger has never had the chance to be spoiled. This mom has done her best and really desires a home with inside access for when Ginger wants to be lazy. We are a super small, no kill rescue that is operating way above our capacity. Our numbers have increased exponentially since Covid. Unlike most shelters, we remained open and hit record intake numbers after the epidemic hit. We have taken in dozens of very sick felines that had no other option, and have even helped over 60 canines in 2021. 2022 was not any better. We are trying to compute our end of the year numbers, but intake, vetting expenses, cost of food and litter for our 120 plus cats all just continues to get worse with the cost of living increasing like it has. Our rescue has also provided record number spay/neuters 2023 at well over 1200 surgeries on cats and dogs. Our accounts are drained, but we feel these surgeries are the only way we are going to be able to stay a float. We will never keep up with the rate that cats can breed in our area.
We operate solely on donations, and we are always looking for wonderful families to join our efforts. We have dozens of felines not posted and dozens more on our waiting list. No matter what type of setting you have, if you are looking to save a feline, we can find one for you to help.
