Eclipse is an absolutely gorgeous loving momma. She has so much companionship to offer an experienced cat lover. Out of all the cats in The Cat House, she is the one that follows me around watching me enjoying me talking to her. She has been so great with her kids. She raised them in the shelter before their eyes were even open for almost 2 months before we were able to get her in our organization. When she came, her and the babies had their own room. With time, we opened the door and had a child gate so she could adjust to the other cats. Her kittens would come out and play, and then return to Eclipse to be comforted and cared for. She has learned to coexist well with other cats and volunteers. Eclipse is just the type of cat that has to respected and given her space. Eclipse is the epitome of what happens when people take cute kittens and then abandon them as soon as they have babies. Her world was turned upside down just when she needed it to be stable for her and her family. Honestly, cats like Eclipse rarely make it out of the shetler alive and if they do, they are stuck in the foster system for most if not all their lives. We are a super small, no kill rescue that is operating way above our capacity. Our numbers have increased exponentially since Covid. Unlike most shelters, we remained open and hit record intake numbers after the epidemic hit. We have taken in dozens of very sick felines that had no other option, and have even helped over 60 canines in 2021. 2022 was not any better. We are trying to compute our end of the year numbers, but intake, vetting expenses, cost of food and litter for our 120 plus cats all just continues to get worse with the cost of living increasing like it has. Our rescue has also provided record number spay/neuters 2023 at well over 1200 surgeries on cats and dogs. Our accounts are drained, but we feel these surgeries are the only way we are going to be able to stay a float. We will never keep up with the rate that cats can breed in our area.
We operate solely on donations, and we are always looking for wonderful families to join our efforts. We have dozens of felines not posted and dozens more on our waiting list. No matter what type of setting you have, if you are looking to save a feline, we can find one for you to help.
